Colette Stubbings’ (@hallofstars) “petal armor” started as a way to cope with anxiety. “I began wrapping my fingers in petals I collected from my dad’s garden. The process calmed me and made me curious about what other functional forms and designs these natural materials could mimic,” she says. 🌸🌱🌺 ⁣ ⁣ “I only use the plant parts themselves and then a spool of thread, binding layers to my hand by wrapping them as tightly as I can.”⁣ ⁣ Photo by @hallofstars
Soleil “Ewok” Wheeler (@ewokfn) is a 14-year-old pro gamer, and she’s the first girl to join FaZe Clan, one of the best gaming teams on the planet. Did we mention she only played her first game when she was 12?⁣
⁣
Soleil, who is deaf, has a deaf twin and comes from a deaf family, and she has her sights set on becoming the first female gamer to qualify for the Fortnite World Cup. It’s a massive event, but Soleil is “unfazed” by the challenge. “I’m confident I can do as well as any boys I’m competing with,” she says. 💁🏻⁣

Nicole Laeno (@nicolelaeno) is a self-described introvert, but dance makes her feel fierce. “I was always the kid who hid behind my mom’s legs,” says the 14-year-old, who started taking dance lessons when she was 7. “I found a confidence that I never knew I had. I’m an introvert who turns into a completely different person when I dance.”⁣

Not many 15 year olds would feel comfortable interviewing world leaders, but Nikki Lilly (@nikkililly_) has a technique for keeping things casual. “I approach my interviews with ‘big’ people as conversations,” says the vlogger and TV presenter, who has her own interview series, “Nikki Lilly Meets.” Nikki started making videos when she was 8 as a distraction from arteriovenous malformation (AVM), a rare condition caused by irregular connections between arteries and veins.⁣
⁣
“I hope people take away the message that they are enough,” says Nikki. “I want people to know that their circumstances don’t define whether their dreams can come true. Your current situation isn’t your final destination. In order to have the rainbow you have to overcome the rain.” 🌈 ⁣

Fashion designer Pierre-Louis Auvray (@forbiddenkn0wledge) doesn’t play by the rules. His upcycled creations hark back to childhood influences, like a love for 1980s science-fiction heroes. “I’m a very prolific person and I struggle to stay focused,” he says. “So if looking at my work doesn’t immediately make sense, just know that it doesn’t to me either!” 🦸‍♂️ 😜 ⁣

We’ve been hanging out on our story all Grammys weekend with artist Alicia Keys (@aliciakeys), who is hosting for the second time and also performing. Ahead of the big @recordingacademy event, she’s been sharing what it takes to prepare.⁣⁣
⁣
But in the wake of today’s news that NBA legend #Kobe Bryant had passed, everyone needed to regroup. For Alicia, it was important to honor the NBA legend, who played for 20 years on the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center, where the Grammys are held. “I think we figured out how to really bring honor and love his way, in his house,” explains Alicia. “We’re lifting each other up with love and appreciation and celebrating his life.” ❤️
Happy #LunarNewYear and greetings from Bali, where food artist Yuwita Dewi (@yuwitadewi) celebrates with family, friends and her signature tangyuan. “It brings so many beautiful memories and it’s a part of my family’s tradition,” she says of the traditional Chinese dessert. ⁣
⁣
Her hope for this new year? “I hope to be happier. I believe good energy will attract great things.” ⁣
