You might be shocked to hear it but I have a family sized tub of ice cream 🍦in my house at all times and can eat it whenever I want, but I don’t actually eat it every day. 😲The power of permission is an amazing, and kinda crazy, thing. When you say you can have ice cream all day, every day my guess is you probably won’t want to. It loses the “pull” it had when it was off-limits. And probs wouldn’t make you feel super fab!

Now? Living with no food rules? Sure I have ice cream when I want. But, sometimes I’ll pick a more nutrient dense snack. ❤️Lately I’ve been loving having a couple Israeli medjool dates to satisfy my sweet tooth daily. I’ll grab a few in the afternoon or for dessert! 🤗Dates from Israel taste delicious and also give me some feel-full fiber that my body loves. Totally hit the spot! 🙌🏻There are no rules. GETTING RID OF STUBBORN BELLY FAT by @grantgirsky

One of the most common fat loss questions I’m asked usually goes something along the lines of…👇

“How do I get rid of this last bit of belly fat?” (*points to & jiggles stomach fat 😂).
⠀
Unfortunately, the answer to that question is never as simple as most people would hope…
⠀
If only it were as easy as wearing a waist trainer (plz don’t)…
⠀
…Or as simple as these ’30-Days to 6-Pack Shredz’ programs make it seem.
⠀
The truth is…
⠀
There’s no single food, exercise or workout that specifically targets belly fat…no amount of crunches or sit-ups will get the job done.
⠀
In reality, there is no way to target ANY specific area of fat on your body.
⠀
Some people will lose fat on their stomachs first, and then their arms and thighs…others are the inverse.
⠀
Now that we’ve established that we can’t spot-reduce fat…lets talk about what you can do…👇
⠀
Here are a few things that CAN aid the overall fat loss process:
▪️Ensure you’re in a calorie deficit.
▪️Lift weights regularly.
▪️Eat enough protein.
▪️Eat plenty of nutrient-dense foods.
▪️Have patience!

Practice these consistently & watch your overall body fat levels decrease…

Which means that eventually, that stubborn belly fat WILL come off!
⠀

With 70% of the country now overweight, one has to pause and ask, "Why in the world are we eating so much?” The food and diet industry have responded with products like skinny popcorn, belly wraps, 8-minute abs, and detox diets.
⠀
But this is completely missing the point.
⠀
The reason we struggle to stop eating has absolutely nothing to do with food. And as a result, the solutions we’ve been offered by mainstream marketers have been embarrassingly misguided.
⠀
Changing your diet isn’t always going to solve your desire to overeat. Because the reason you overeat has nothing to do with food.
⠀
We eat too much because what we’re truly hungry for isn’t on the shelf at the supermarket.
⠀
But how can that be true?
⠀
Fast food. Snack packs. Vending machines.
⠀
In this, the age of hyper palatable convenience foods, food is never further than arm’s reach.
⠀
Everything we could possibly dream can be readily available within a moment’s notice. Everywhere we go, food pushers are more than happy to profit from our insatiable appetites.
⠀
But if we could choose anything, wouldn’t we want an entirely different menu?
⠀
Perhaps something that offered:
⠀
▪️A hug from an adoring mother who is always eager to offer you a compliment
▪️A boss who acknowledges your hard work with an unexpected bouquet of flowers
▪️Deep, meaningful conversations with a neighbor who shares your passion for Indie movies
⠀
In other words, food isn’t what we crave.
⠀
What we truly want is to be fulfilled. To feel good enough. To feel complete. Happy. Satisfied. Valued. Respected. Desired. Admired and loved.

If we’re not meant to have night time snacks, why is there a light in the fridge?🤷‍♀️Hands up if you AGREE!!! 🙌🏻But actually, that light is so handy, right?!

One of the most common food rules I hear is having set times for eating. ⏰Have your afternoon snack early? 🙅‍♀️No way! Eat past 8pm? 😳Forget about it. And with the whole intermittent fasting thing it’s gotten even worse (🙄that’s a soap box for a whole other day!)
. 
I used to have those timing rules, too. 🙋‍♀️And I was terrified to break them. BUT, those timing rules? They’re not actually helping you and here is why:
. ❌They can make us lose our hunger cues all together
❌It can lead to overeating when you finally “allow” yourself food
❌You’ll be distracted from things that actually matter and being present (like at work, with family, etc.) because you’re thinking about food/the next time you can eat
.

1200 calories. Seriously, why is that the number prescribed for EVERY person trying to lose weight?⁣
⁣
“Hilda, you’re 150 lbs, and you need to lose weight? 1200 calories.”⁣
⁣
“Gargamel - the scale says 280 lbs. Let’s go with 1200 calories.”⁣
⁣
“Josie, I don’t even know what you weigh, but eat 1200 calories.”⁣
⁣
This is a problem because 1200 calories won’t work for most people. It’s too low. If you weigh less than 120 lbs. then it might work for you.⁣
⁣
Otherwise, my advice is eat as many calories as you can while still dropping weight. Woah, wait what?!?!⁣
⁣
Yep. It’ll take longer, sure. But it’ll also be way more sustainable. You can enjoy more of the foods you love more often. Have a drink more often without worrying about it.⁣
⁣
Could you lose weight faster? AB-SO-LUTE-LY. But are you willing to sacrifice your social life to that degree?⁣
⁣
Oh yeah, back to the graphic. All of this stuff happens when you eat too little. Basically - it’s not sustainable. You’ll eventually break. Your workouts will suffer; stress levels will rise.⁣
⁣
And if you’re drinking meal replacement shakes all day on 1200 calories, are you going to do that for the rest of your life? Didn’t think so. You’ve put a band-aid on your issue. Once you stop, you’ll have no basic strategies or habits to fall back on to help you maintain weight loss.⁣
⁣
My advice? Find your maintenance calories by tracking - which are typically around your bodyweight in lbs. x 15 - and set your deficit (20-25%) from there.⁣

Hopefully you understand at this point that your diet is the main driver of fat loss - it should be your main priority to lose fat. It’s where you will focus on creating a calorie deficit - the most important factor in fat loss.⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That being said, if ALL you do is focus on diet and a calorie deficit, you’ll find it tough to maintain your fat loss. Moreover, most of you out there who want to lose fat want to do so to feel better about your bodies - and that includes seeing better muscle tone and definition. Diet alone can’t achieve those ends for you.⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A better option is combining diet with a sound strength training regimen. With this option, you’ll be able to create a larger deficit through the calories burned in your workouts. What’s more important, however, is the aforementioned muscle tone and definition you’ll achieve. To boot, the added muscle will increase metabolism and help you maintain your weight loss.⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The best option lies on the right - combining diet with strength training and a cardio routine. This combination will allow you to create the largest calorie deficit. Adding in cardio will help burn extra calories and improve your cardiovascular health and fitness - which will in turn allow you to workout at a greater intensity in your strength training sessions.⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Ich werde oft gefragt, ob ich während der Abnahme auch mal gesündigt habe.
Ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass ich das Wort „sündigen“ eh total bescheuert finde.
Genauso wie „cheaten“.
Klar, wenn man abnehmen will, sollte man mehr auf vollwertige Lebensmittel greifen und Lebensmittel mit industriellen Zucker und vielen gesättigten Fettsäuren meiden.
Aber es is menschlich und auch für normal gewichtige völlig in Ordnung auch mal danach zu greifen.
Ihr müsst wissen, dass ihr selbst verantwortlich seid was ihr esst und wieviel ihr davon esst.
Ihr könnt selbst über zu und Abnahme entscheiden.
Es fängt immer im Kopf an.
Und wenn wir ständig von gut oder böse, erlaubt und verboten, cheaten und sündigen reden, geben wir bestimmten Lebensmitteln einfach eine andere Wertigkeit.
Hätte man uns als Kinder mit Äpfeln anstatt Schokolade belohnt, würden wir in unserem Erwachsenen Belohnungssystem  auch automatisch nach einem stressigen Tag lieber nach Äpfeln als nach Schokolade greifen.
Das ist eine sehr lange Erklärung um zu erklären weshalb auf dem heutigen Bild nicht nur Leckereien mit wenig SP abgebildet sind, sondern mit wenig Kalorien.

It is just so unrealistic.🤪 People are setting themselves up for failure before they even start and driving themselves crazy during the process.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You NEED to know that a BIG transformation will take longer than you expect it to. Fat loss and fat gain is ultimately dependent on energy balance. You didn’t have 50+ lbs of a positive energy balance to cause fat gain in a few short days, so stop expecting to lose it that fast.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One of the common barriers that seems to hold many people back from making progress towards their health and fitness goals is the perceived "extreme high cost" of eating healthy.
⠀
If we're being honest, more often than not, I see this used as an excuse to eat poorly. By telling yourself that you can't afford to go shop for healthy foods, it’s much easier to stick to drive-thru's & low quality food choices….and you've created a way to justify doing so on a regular basis.
⠀
However, eating healthier doesn't necessarily have to be more expensive. You don't have to roll into Whole Foods and drop $250 on a week's worth of groceries in the name of "healthy-eating".
⠀
Grocery stores like Wal-Mart, Kroger, Aldi, etc. will do just fine. Staples like lean meats on clearance, eggs, potatoes, oats, rice, veggies (fresh or frozen), and berries (sale items) are just a few cost effective options you can choose from.
⠀
Try taking a family of 5 to McDonald's multiple times per week and watch how that expense adds up…it's not cheap.
⠀
More times than not, it's the ease of access & taste, rather than cost, that drives these decisions.
⠀
With that said, I know there are low socio-economic individuals that truly do struggle to get by, and this post is definitely not directed at them…

However, if you’re rolling around with the latest iPhone, make regular Starbucks runs, and have a fat car note, I want you to think twice before you say eating healthy is “too expensive”. 🤨

TRACKING YOUR FOOD!
-What can 1,800 calories look like? Well that can look like a whole lot of things! Which is why I always recommend people to never only track their calories, but also track their macros too.

It’s super important that you realize⚠️Not all food is equal! Many foods are much more nutrient dense and provide us with the nutrients our body needs (such as a lot of lean proteins and vegetables). Some foods are more calorie dense, so you’re eating the same amount of calories but it feels like a lot less food, this is common with things such as fast food (like a McDonald’s Big Mac). These different types of foods may have equal calories but they are very different in the quality of the food and the nutrients that they provide our body

While both the left and right side add up to 1,800 calories, the left side is made of foods that are more energy/calorie dense (packed with calories) and the right side is made of foods that are more nutrient dense. Hence why I recommend people to track their macros, because you may be able to hit your calorie goal by eating junk food all day. However you will not be able to hit your macro goals if your diet is mostly composed of junk food (you will likely be way under in protein and waaaayyyyy over in carbs and fats).
