ENERGY 🕊 There are times when life can be so fkn depleting. Like completely rip you apart and bring you to lows you didn’t think possible. One thing I’ve come to realize is how much we need to make it a priority to find any and all ways to bring ourselves back to homeostasis and use our energy wisely. As hard as it can be sometimes, especially during tough times, I believe it’s important to not spend too much energy on worry, anxiety, fear, sadness. Of course it’s important to “feel” and not numb out emotions or transitions but always do your best to redirect energy to believe, trust, heal, and grow 🌿 always upward and onward...

CUT UPDATE AND MISSING GYM SESSIONS 😰

Well in the interest of honesty just gonna tell ya I am feeling c r a p. For some reason my body has just decided it wants to ache every day and my brain wants to feel groggy and slow ☹️. This can happen quite often when you’re eating very little BUT I’m not sure this is really down to my cut as my calories are still relatively high and I’ve been enjoying off plan meals (cheesecake mmmm 🍰) so I feel like I can only really put this down to how poor my sleep quality has been lately 👎🏼

I’ve also seen no change in the scale weight this past week which can definitely feel demotivating 😤😤 but again this could be down to lack of quality sleep or any number of factors so I’m trying to take my own advice and not stress too much 😂
. 
The fact of the matter is - anything worth having is not easy. It’s not always gonna be easy to say no to dessert when you’re trying to lose weight. To nail every cardio session. To drag yourself to the gym when you’re feeling tired. If it was easy everyone would do it 🤷🏼‍♀️. Now I’m not a competitor or athlete, so missing one session this morning really isn’t the end of the world (even though I’ve been feeling guilty all day like it is 😅) and I will still get all my sessions done it just means no rest days for me now. I’ve had my time to feel sorry for myself and I am determined now to get myself feeling back to normal and get all my boxes ticked going forward. WE GET BACK 👏🏼 TO 👏🏼 IT 👏🏼

I used to think about food 24/7. 🙈At work 💻I’d be thinking about when lunch was. When I was out with friends I’d be thinking about what I’d have to cut out later in the day to “make up” for the drinks 🥂from happy hour. In the evening at home 🏡on the couch I’d be planning out what I would eat the next day. It. Never. Stopped.!!!!
. 
This food obsession hurt me in so many ways. 💔It caused me to make mistakes at work, be the worst girlfriend and listener to my then-boyfriend-now-husband, Joe, and be an anxious ball of stress anytime I was with my girlfriends. 😢Something had to change, so I set out to make that happen and here is what I did:
. 🍽Gave my body enough food
🍩Allowed myself to eat ALL foods
👙Learned to love my body
. 
The result? No obsessive food thoughts! 🤩Now I can actually have a full conversation with my husband without thinking about the calories I’ve eaten or how many I “needed” to burn off during my next workout. And that’s a pretty freaking great feeling of freedom!😘

LOW SYN MINT AERO DECONSTRUCTED CHEESECAKE 💚🍫 This is amazing and everyone needs to know how to make it so what I did: * Tub of quark * X 4 laughing cow light cheeses (part of HEXA) * 1 teaspoon of @chocshot mint flavoured (0.5 syns) * 1 tbsp of mint essence (syn free)

All mixed together and set in the fridge
For the base I used 40g of grape nuts (healthy extra B) and decided to sprinkle on top rather than as a base but you can do as a base if you want. I then topped it with 3 syns worth of mint aero and it was absolutely delicious! All of this for 3.5 syns - really worth a shot! You can then obviously adapt the recipe to any sort of flavours you prefer! I get a lot of messages telling me long, mostly heartbreaking stories about how desperate you are to lose weight at any cost. Even if it hurt you in the long run. My biggest wish is that more of you would truly come to believe that it is not your life’s purpose to do so. You are worth more than the number on the scales. Health is far more than just a number.

I spent a while trying to write a more eloquent caption; trying to explain in depth that even if your health DID improve it still wouldn’t mean it’s your life’s purpose, as your health is not only incredibly multifactorial but you are not defined by your health status… but it’s harder to express in an Instagram caption than you’d think, so that sentence will have to do for now.

7 starter glute growth tips 🍑👇
-
1. Lift some heavy weights. By heavy, I don't mean always the heaviest amount you can possibly lift. Medium and lighter weights can feel heavy if you challenge yourself close enough to failure

2. Work in different rep ranges. Low, medium, and high sometimes as well. 4-6, 8-12, 15 +. 3-4 sets per exercise generally

3. Train glutes 2-3 times per week
-
4. Focus on the key compound lifts that hit glutes well. A few of my faves are hip thrusts, RDLs, sumo deadlifts, glute extensions, straddle lifts, step ups, and deficit lunges. Develop a good mind-muscle connection so you feel them working
-
5. Progressive overload is crucial. You need to get stronger and lift more volume over time. Obviously this means you need to be tracking your sessions
-
6. Eat plenty of calories and protein. You can't always be dieting if you want to maximize muscle growth. Lose the fat you need to lose, but you will need to come out of that deficit eventually
-
7. Cut back on the endless band work and cardio that masquerades as booty building. Nothing wrong with those things, but they won't get you the results you're looking for on their own

My client’s doctor told her that her calories were too high for her to lose weight. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Guess what- he was totally right. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I think he forgot that he also prescribed her weight loss drugs for 3 years (from what I have been able to find, they are only approved for 12-week use- so I’m very curious to hear if anyone else has been on them for extended periods of time). I think losing weight immediately after transitioning off those meds would be physiologically impossible. ⁣
⁣
The meds are stimulants- so I feel like her body was just in fight or flight constantly for 3 years- with no breaks- not to mention the 4+ hours of exercise she was doing everyday. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
He recommended the following diet to her after she transitioned of the drugs👇🏼

75 grams protein⁣⁣
60 grams carbs⁣⁣
90 grams fat⁣⁣
⁣⁣
That’s 1350 calories⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Did he really think that slamming her body into a calorie deficit (or trying to) was the answer?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Did he consider that chasing weight loss might not be the most appropriate goal? ⁣⁣ Full disclosure- my client gained 18 lbs during the 3 months after getting off the weight loss drugs. We slowly started the reverse diet process (working to get calories up from around 1500 to 1900). We decreased her exercise volume with an emphasis on weight training- to help keep around the lean tissue she does have while we focus on improving metabolic health. ⁣
⁣⁣
Her weight gain can be attributed to what we call post starvation obesity- when the body preferentially gains fat with an increase in caloric intake after having very low energy availability for an extended period of time. It’s your body’s way of keeping you alive.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It doesn’t think- fuck this is going to mess up our aesthetic goals.⁣⁣
⁣
It thinks- let’s put on fat because our energy resources have been low for a very long time. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So yes, weight gain has been a necessary part of this process. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Gaining weight doesn’t make you a bad person. ⁣⁣
In fact it might be necessary for long term progress. ⁣

High fibre, High Protein and Healthy fats Low FODMAP Raspberry and Chia Pudding
Enjoy for breakfast or as a sweet snack! Simply blend all ingredients and set in the fridge, ready for the early morning rush! This low FODMAP friendly diet is high in fibre, high in protein and contains healthy fats. Feel free to swap the raspberries with other low FODMAP foods such as strawberries, goji berries, cranberries, blackberries or passionfruit.
Serves 4
Ingredients:
2 cups calcium fortified almond milk
1 punnet of fresh raspberries
1/2 cup chia seeds
2 tbs maple syrup
Fresh raspberries to garnish

Method
1. In a blender, combine almond milk and raspberries
2. Pour mixture into a bowl and add maple syrup and chia seeds
3. Cover bowl and refrigerate for a few hours until set.
4. Garnish with fresh raspberries.

If you have a house full of chocolate, chances are you aren't going to last the 40 days of Lent!

Your goal is the end result, at the end of the bridge.

Which, in a sense, you have to build as you go along!

During the summer of 2018, I reached out to an ED specialist and said: “I feel like I’m in a prison. My entire life revolves around counting and controlling my food. Please help me.” And almost 2 years later, after lots of ups and downs, I finally have my life and my happiness back.

While I’m grateful to be one of the lucky ones, I wish I had been more informed about the risks of dieting from a young age. And I wish I hadn’t pushed out so many disordered messages from this account. 
You may be thinking: “Most people diet. And they don’t have eating disorders!” But research shows that 1 in 4 people who engage in dieting behaviors will develop some type of eating disorder. EDs are extremely secretive, with the 2nd highest mortality rate of any mental illness — surpassed only by opioid addiction.

To prevent EDs, we must focus on the prevention of DIETING. Especially among young women.

Our bodies are not the problem. They don’t need to be fixed or changed. What needs to change is the way our culture thinks about and values our bodies. 
You may think you can’t do anything to prevent eating disorders, but you can. Try simple things like avoiding dieting or body talk at family gatherings/social events, even if it feels unnatural. Avoid complimenting someone’s weight loss, as it may reinforce calorie restriction and negative feelings about their “before” body. Challenge your own thoughts about why you may believe thin is better. Or why some foods are “bad” or “good.” Get curious about whether you are conflating eating healthy food (ok👌🏻) with dieting (controlling entire food groups, restricting or counting cals). Body positivity, body acceptance and intuitive eating are finally starting to catch on, but we can all do so much more to help out here.
