I don’t tend to crave unhealthy foods, however, my portion sizes can sometimes get out of hand. I have a HUGE appetite, I’m like a bottomless pit. Seriously, people are always surprised at how someone so small can eat SO much!  This is why I love volume eating. Volume eating is one of the best tricks when it comes to feeling satiatied. It allows you to increase your food intake, without increasing your calories. Most of my meals are made up of TONS of vegetables. Incorporating lots of green leafy vegetables, allows me to eat lots of food. Along with veggie, I also incorporate healthy fats and lean protein into all of my meals to keep me feeling full for longer.

These lettuce wraps 🍃🌿 were out of this world 🌎💥 Jam packed with so many goodies.  Shredded BBQ chicken + carrots 🥕+ corn 🌽 + beets + avo 🥑. In case you didn't see my story I made it to 500 followers which is crazy! I was feeling pathetic for getting so excited but my girl @table_manners_ reminded me how cool it is that 500 people actually are interested in me. So true. No comparing myself to everyone, especially considering I almost never made this account! I am sure glad I did. 😊💜💙

Update in my life guys. I'm moving back home to Boston in just a couple of weeks. I've been planning it for most of the year but finally making it happen. Texas is not the place for this Northeast girl 💁🏼 But I truly regret nothing. I have gained control of my health and eating habits but now I really need to work on my mental health. Being in a city I love will hopefully be a great start. 🌃 Tonight I had to work late so I cooked up this salmon really quick (spoiler - they are frozen but taste amazing @gortonsseafood)! I also finally got to try @traderjoes carrot spirals which are out of this damn world 🔥🥕 Also some broccoli + kale thrown in. 🌳🌲🌱

Basically, you don't have to put much thought into them and you look forward to eating them every time.

This chili recipe is one of my staple meals. It's so delicious but I also love that I can make a big batch and freeze it in individual portions. That way, when I have a crazy week, I can pull a serving out of the freezer to defrost and all I have to do is heat it up and top it with all my fave toppings (@traderjoes peach salsa, sour cream, cheese). It's also a nice big portion which I love (#VolumeEater) and you can even throw it over rice, cauliflower rice, sweet potato, etc.

This has been my suppers for the past week or so. Sweet potatoes (sometimes steamed, sometimes boiled), water sauteed onions and garlic with cremini mushrooms, sweet peppers, chopped red cabbage. Seasoned with Chinese five spice. Going to add in some chopped kale once the veg is just about where I want it. The flavors are excellent together. Apartment is starting to smell yummilicious 😋 Veggie red lentil soup will be going in my belly for the next few days. Going to put it over top of some quinoa. Got a couple red onions, entire bulb of garlic, chopped celery, diced carrots, can of no-salt diced tomatoes, sweet bell peppers, 2 cups red lentils, and about 5 cups of frozen mixed veggies. One teaspoon each of smoked paprika, herbes de Provence, turmeric and half a cup of nutritional yeast. Added 9 cups of water. Once it's cooked, I'm mixing in a couple tablespoons of white miso and a few good handfuls of chopped kale. The 3 Day Cleanse I'm doing dictates a veggie serving (from the list) as a mid-afternoon snack.
.
MY brain sees 1 cup of cucumber slices as WAY better than 1/2 a large carrot or 2 medium celery stalks, even though the nutritional intake is the same! I even cut my cucs up into thinner slices so I had "more" to eat.
.
I know that my brain (my heart lol) likes to think it's eating a lot of food -- high volume -- so I do this trick a lot with all kinds of food; strawberries and chicken for example.
.
I also like to choose foods with lower caloric levels per serving -- like Greek Yogurt or popcorn -- for snacks that last longer and keep me fuller.
.
And, I use a smaller fork to slow down my eating and a smaller plate to remind myself that I AM eating the CORRECT portion sizes for my body.
.
Nutrition really is a mindset and having these little tricks and tools on hand make all the difference.✌💕⚡

Pizza rolls on top of a super fresh salad. These are the best I've ever made, so light and fluffy! Don't know if it's because it was a fresh bag of flour or a fresh box of yeast or because once they were made up they got to chill on a baking tray for 90 mins before going in the oven. Who knows?! But they were perfect!

Last night's dinner was the most perfect mushroom heavy lentil bolognese! I'd actually made it the night before to save time so I think it just chilling in the fridge for 24 hours let all the flavours come out. Was so good! Topped it with some of the Asda grated cheddar alternative.

Changes are happening. Leaning out slowly as intended.

Patience is paying off. The road is slow and deliberate.

When you truly “trust” the process, you’re all-in on the things you control. If not, you’re full of shit.

You control your schedule. The effort in the gym. The focus on nutrition. The rest & recovery. Making yourself a priority.

The “trust” in the process comes from understanding that not everything is in your control, or controllable. Accepting things that are uncontrollable are what makes the “trust in the process” powerful.

Relinquish control of the uncontrollable. Refocus that recaptured energy into the things you “must” control in order to be successful.

Jut because you’re putting in the work, doesn’t mean that you’re being accountable.

If you’re out all night drinking and then you drag yourself to the gym hungover and make some “victorious” social media post that you “found a way” to overcome your situation and still remain accountable to your fitness goals, Stop.  You’re weren’t accountable for shit. In fact you’re FUQ’ing irresponsible.

Accountability should have started  way before you 
made plans to go out.

Before you had the first drink.

Before you smoked thar pack of Newport’s.

Before you ate like shit in a drunken stupor at 3am.

Before you went to bed at 5am.

Before your alarm went off at 8am and “dragged” yourself to the gym.

Before you made that irrelevant post on social media about “finding the will” to make it the gym.

Don’t expect me to feel sorry for you or celebrate your “victory”. Fuq no. You’re an asshole. You deserve to feel like ass. You deserve to drop that weight on your chest. You deserve have a miserable workout.

Instead, do the really hard shit. Get in bed early on Saturday night. Rest. Recover. Prepare. Wake up. Fuel yourself to perform. Crush your workout. Then make that post. Share that victory. That’s self discipline and accountability.

Nice flavour right here! I soaked 2 cups of black beans overnight, rinsed them, added one medium chopped red onion, 5 good sized garlic cloves (yes, I LOVE my garlic 😉😋), 1tsp smoked paprika and 1tsp herbes de Provence. Added water until everything was covered by an inch or so, checked my seal and set it for 30 minutes. I like them pillowy and this gets them there. I'm going to keep the cooking liquid to sauté with. Can't dump the big flavour along with nutrients. Once I clean out the Ipot, there's going to be brown basmati rice going in to cook. On nights like tonight, it’s tough to stay on point. Casino won’t let you bring food or drinks in right? Here’s what we do to hit our numbers and stay on point.

1. If we know in advance we’re going somewhere like this, we will purposely spread out macros out to last a bit longer. We’ll be out tonight later than normal. No sense in starving.

2. We eat before we leave. Go to events like this full. It helps you stay focused.

3. We take 2 shelf-stable meals with us. We eat one before we go in, and one after. If we stay longer than expected, we can eat that 2nd meal by taking a break and hitting the car when we’re ready.

4. We pack a 1st Phorm Level Bar each. Sandy brings them in the casino in her purse. The casino has no issue with that.

5. We drink plenty of coffee, tea, and diets soda. That helps with staying full and away from easy temptations.

Extreme options? Maybe. But, we’ve been doing this so long that it’s simply the norm. Sure, it was hard AF  for us too. It’s simply “How” we do things.

Never forget...extreme changes ALWAYS require extreme effort 👊🏻.
