The main selling point of Nuttvia is that it contains ZERO  palm oil, and 97% less sugar (the flavour of the year)

By trading sugar for sweeteners you get almost 2 teaspoons of sugar less per serve 👍🏼 this is awesome for sure but the total carbohydrate content is basically the same and carbs break down into sugar sooo 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyways before you start digging in with a spoon 🥄 ( lets be honest here 🙋🏻‍♀️!) it’s important to know that when it comes to a serve (15 g ~ 1 tbspn) there REALLY is not a whole lot of difference if you wanted to lose weight (the MAIN reason why most people want to make the swap)🤦🏻‍♀️

Just because something is 97% less sugar and contains no palm oil doesn’t automatically make it a ‘health food’ that you can start consuming daily, especially if you're doing it solely for the purpose of weight loss 🤷🏻‍♀️

At the end of the day Nuttvia like Nutella is a discretionary food (it doesn’t fit into our core food groups) and that’s OK but it should only be enjoyed occasionally! Soooo pick the one you enjoy the most and stop worrying about the nutrient density of chocolate spread 💁🏻‍♀️

There is nothing wrong with the muffin on the left, however it is important to understand and realise that some ‘snacks’ provide the same energy as a main meal!

People are quick to cut out foods like fruit and starchy veg like potatoes but don’t think twice about ‘healthy muffins and bliss balls’

My preference with yoghurt is always plain Greek or natural yoghurt

Adding fruit 🍌🥝🍓to plain yogurt is a much better option than fruit-flavoured yogurt, which often has very little actual fruit and a lot of sugar. ⠀
By adding your own fruit you also get the added benefit of fibre and ‘volume,’ which will keep you fuller, something you wouldn’t get from fruit flavoured or even ‘no added sugar’ varieties.

Dairy yoghurts will always contain some sugar (lactose), which is naturally occurring🥛. It accounts for 4-6 g of the ‘sugar’ per 100 g on the Nutrition Information label. 
It is not something that needs to be feared! 💁🏻‍♀️

Since lactose gets listed under the blanket term of ‘sugar’ on the nutrition information panel, it is important to look at the ingredients list to get a better picture. If sugar is listed in the first three ingredients, then it won’t be the best everyday choice. 🙅🏻‍♀️
⠀
The only fruit/flavoured yoghurt on the market I currently recommend is @yoproau since it is sweetened with stevia and provides ~4 g of sugar per 100 g.

If you MUST pick a flavoured yoghurt, look for less than 12g per 100 g. The above flavoured yoghurt provides ~8.8 g per 100 g, so it meets this recommendation ✔️

GARLIC TAHINI DRESSING

As requested this dressing is dairy free!

Ingredients
1/3 cup tahini @mayversfood 
1 clove garlic, minced
3 Tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 Teaspoon lemon zest 
1 Tablespoon maple syrup/honey 
Salt & pepper to taste 
Warm water to thin

Method 
1) Add tahini, garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, maple syrup, sea salt, and pepper to a mixing bowl. Whisk to combine.
2) Add hot water to thin until desired consistency is achieved.
3) Enjoy! ✨ ⠀

③ Choose a Low GI carbohydrate
- Cooked quinoa using my microwave method! ⠀

④ Add healthy fat
- Sauté spinach, onion, capsicum and mushrooms with EVOO
- Roast pumpkin with garlic EVOO

A little tid bit for #tastytuesday 
When I prep food for whatever meal plan I’m following I tend to go as simple as possible. I like to cook but I don’t like long complicated procedures.
This zucchini pasta was neither of those things. 
20 min was it

1️⃣ mash 🥑 with ¼ cup Greek yogurt (I use skyr) garlic and onion powder. Set aside

2️⃣ heat up 🦐 on oiled skillet Ana season with pepper, onion and garlic powder 
3️⃣ add spiralized zucchini to the pan, drain excess liquid 
4️⃣ add avocado mixture to the pan, heat until shrimp is cooked

5️⃣ #plateit , top with Parmesan and enjoy 🍽

I love this because you can fill up (volume wise) without overeating (calorie wise)

Save this for later if it’s helpful! ✌🏾 💋

Tonight's dinner is Mediterranean-ish: falafel, tomato-cucumber-olive salad, plain lettuce for volume, vegan plain yogurt, and tahini garlic sauce (fresh garlic! very strong!) over everything. 
I used the instant falafel mix from the bulk section at WinCo- it's great and so easy! I add a little extra fresh parsley and garlic for more zing, but it's pretty good on its own too. Great for camping too because it's just add water.
