It has been an incredible honour to have created, with more than 300 people, the first parade of Tambores Livres at Nothing Hill Carnival!
A massive thank you to all players, dancers, performers, teachers, volunteers, musicians and activists who spent a long, hot day on the road in honour of our three Heroes of Brazilian Resistance: Mestre Moa do Katende, Marielle Franco and Caboclo 2 de Julho.
Seven groups came together as one to celebrate resistance, to take the art of protest back to carnival, to mix musical traditions and cultures to communicate a message of solidarity and positive community energy that carried the procession to 2nd place!
Thank you all who took part and volunteered in the mass camps and supported on the pre-production.
There will be further opportunities to come together and celebrate resistance with culture in fundraising gigs coming soon.
Here are a few images from the day.
